The Recent flood in Bangladesh

Flood is the most common natural calamity in Bangladesh. In Recent yeares the frequency of abnormal Floods in Bangladesh has increased substantially. In August 2024 Bangladesh experienced severe floods, mainly in its eastern regions, caused by heavy moonsoon rains and water coming from India. The flooding severely impacted districts like Feni, Comilla and Noakhali. The Flooding affected more than 5.8 Million people across 11 districts, with over 500,000 forced to leave their homes and move to shelters. The disaster caused widespread damage to infrastructure , including school which left around 1.75 million students unable to attend classes. The Flood also severely  impacted agriculture , destroying over 339,000 hectares of crops, making it difficult for many farmers to recover their livelihoods. Relief efforts were quikly organized, with both local and international organizations providing aid. However the scale of the disaster posed significant challenges, making the recovery process slow and difficult. Emergency supplies such as food water and medical assistance were delivered to affected communities, but many areas remain in need of long- term support to rebuild homes, schools and restore agriculture productivity.
